The Explorer is a pedal car rather than a bike, and the distinction is the point. Steering and pedaling are separate jobs here — the chassis solves the balance problem completely, so a rider who is still nervous about falling can put all of their attention into the corner. Some children find that far easier than a bicycle, and they are not wrong to.
A steering handle sits at each side, the frame and seat both adjust for leg length, and the structure carries up to a hundred and fifty-five pounds, which quietly includes most adults who fancy a turn down the drive. It is a serious piece of steel, and it rides like one: low, planted and faster than it looks from a standing start.
Blue and black is the original finish and the one most often seen. It is a four-and-up machine and genuinely stays interesting well past that.
Who it suits
Four years and up, on a driveway, a path or a flat stretch of car park.
One thing to know
It is heavy by the standards of this lineup. A four-year-old will ride it happily and will not be putting it away on their own.

“Got this for my grandson several years ago and he rides it daily spring, summer and fall. Bike has held up great! It is adjustable so older kids can ride it too. His aunt and grandmother have even taken a few spins on it. I wish you could by replacement tires though. My grandson likes to skid in it and it has caused one tire to were the rubber off in a spot. Would buy this bike again!”

“Bought this for my 2 Grandsons, ages 6 and 9......they were with us for a weeks stay.......they were on the bike daily, they kept saying how much they loved the bike and that it was the best bike ever. My sister in, law also had a Y-Bike for her grandkids and we ended up borrowing it because the boys were fighting over the one bike. You won’t be disappointed in this purchase. Love that it can be adjusted for the size of the child. Highly recommend”
Verified buyer — 5 out of 5My son loves it.
“I had a red version of one of these that sat outside for a while. After exposure to the sun for a while, the plastic seat became brittle and broke into pieces. I bought another blue one which is being kept covered on the porch when not in use. All in all, it is a pretty decent little trike, and my son loves it.”
